What are you even talking about? First off at the distance this picture was taken at the entire dog would pretty easily be completely in focus at f1.4. Second, the Canon 50mm f1.4 is $350, a far cry from your $1,250 number. Third, if you use your lens hood you can reduce the "orbs" you speak of, even though I'm not 100% sure what your talking about.

An f/1.4 lens with DOF so narrow that the tip of a nose is in sharp focus and the eyes are blurred. An f/1.4 lens that turns every lamp or reflective object into an orb. An f/1.4 lens that costs $1,250, and you may not have attached, rather than a less expensive blur tool.

One of my favorite features introduced in the Photoshop CS6 beta is without a doubt the Blur Gallery. This collection of three brand new filters allows for photo-realistic depth of field adjustments via an interface which allows you to place and manipulate controls directly on the image area.

Photographers rely on focal length, subject distance and aperture to determine in-focus and blurred areas of an image. Yet there are times when technical constraints make a desired effect difficult to achieve. And that's where these new tools come in handy.

Adobe has announced that the beta version of Photoshop CS6 was downloaded more than 500,000 times in its first week of release.

The final version of the image editing software will cost $699 (£439) for the standard edition or $999 (£627) for the extended build, but users can take part in the beta for free.

"It's not often that we provide an advance preview of the next release of Photoshop and we're grateful for all the support and buzz the beta has received. We're glad you're as excited as we are to see all of your requests come to life," said Adobe in a statement.

Adobe also confirmed that the Photoshop CS6 beta has received more than 12,000 Facebook likes with some 2,000 comments attached, and over 110,000 tweets. A sneak preview video uploaded to YouTube hit 3 million views shortly after it was uploaded.
